Caviar, one of the world’s oldest superfoods

If you thought that caviar was just a luxury delicacy, it is time to think again!  It is actually a superfood packed with essential nutrients that can help to maintain our everyday health and wellness.

The reason behind its superfood status is because each unfertilised Sturgeon egg is full of essential vitamins, minerals and essential fats. When we eat the caviar produced from the eggs, we benefit from those same nutrients.

Eaten regularly as part of a well-balanced, healthy diet, here are just some of the ways that caviar can be good for you

Rich in healthy fats

Caviar is rich in Omega-3 which is an essential fatty acid known as one of the ‘good fats’. It helps to support functions such as eye and skin health and joint mobility. Plus, as Omega-3 is an important part of brain cell membranes, it is also considered to help improve brain health.

A boost for immune system

Caviar contains selenium which is known to help strengthen the immune system and fight off ill health and disease.  It also helps to strengthen the body’s ability to fight free radicals which are unstable chemicals that can penetrate the body’s cells.

A tonic for the skin

There is a reason why caviar is often found in luxury anti-ageing skin care products, which again, comes down to the omega-3 fatty acids. Studies have shown that the fatty acids along with vitamins A and E, which are also found in caviar, can help skin to recover from damage, and can boost the moisture levels of dry and ageing skin.

A burst of vitamin B12

Did you know that a 1-ounce (28 gram) serving of caviar provides the recommended daily dose of vitamin B12, which is vital in helping the body to function normally. It also helps to combat fatigue and develop healthy red blood and nerve cells whilst helping to maintain brain health and the immune system.
